The other day I was standing in my balcony, waiting for the one hour long power cut to end (thanks to TN government for this unkindest cut of all :D) That’s when I heard this little girl cry at the top of her voice…… I craned my neck to see who it was, for in our street there are so many tiny tots.

I saw a girl in the front portico of her house, sitting in the lap of her grandma. The granny was wiping her tears off and was saying “ amma ippo varuva paapa, azhakoodathu nee”. Meaning “mommy will come soon baby, don’t cry”

“Oh this kiddo!” I thought as her sob continued to amplify to a dangerous peak!

The kid has both her parents working who come back home late at night, and leave early at dawn and she, who is about 3 years old and her younger sis, stay with her grand parents all day. No more a strange story.

This reminded me of an SMS joke that I read recently,which was something like this

KID: “granny, who is that man and that woman who comes at night?? i saw them yesterday….

GRAN:”Thank god! So you have finally seen them!

They are your parents!!! Both work as software engineers.

Now ,Let’s celebrate this!”

May be it’s a bit lame, but I liked this piece of satire.

A sudden bawl from the kid distracted me from my thoughts

I thought I t wasn’t fair to get irritated at the noise. What else do you expect her to do?Dance with glee when she longs for her mommy?

THE naked truth is that kids are the most and worst affected when both their parents are working. The bitter consequence of practicality.

I know some parents who literally hurl their little kids into some crèches or ask the grandparents to look after them. In newspapers, I have read about parents who forgot to pick their kids up from day care centers, in the hangover of dazzling parties at their work.

Ask these people how they love their children and they would say.”I call my little one everyday from the office” or “I buy him a BIG cake on the birthday” or “ we buy infinite number of toys,chocolates,colour pencils, everyday only for him” hmmm….so that is LOVE.

I wonder when and how, each and everything in our lives did become so very formal,So very insincere.

In the run to conquer money, time and what not, people don’t realize that they keep dropping,losing, so many things, the foremost being their kids’ childhoods.

Well one can’t even blame the parents completely for they need to work to make both ends meet, but its hurting to find them becoming materialistic nowadays L

“ALL I WANNA SAY IS THAT THEY DON’T REALLY CARE ABOUT US!!!!” Suddenly, I heard MJ scream from my T.V. (I wondered if it was just coincidence or if M.J was echoing the lament of the kidsJ).The current had come at last.

My wait finally was over but the little girl’s was not .I wondered how many more minutes, or hours she had to wait for her mommy to come back home….

After looking at the little girl, who had dozed off by then on her granny’s shoulders, I went in to my room.

Is that why?

One never knows the value of his eyes unless he goes blind.

I realized this lesson after the loss of my dear granny.
everything seems like a dream, the reason why I still am not able to believe that she has actually gone…

We called our granny; “ammamma” (which means grandma in our language).

she was always serene like a clear cloudless sky. she mostly wore only white clothes and always had vibhuthi( the sacred ash) On her forehead.

you can always find her room tidy and neat anytime you visit her. one felt a sense of tranquility in her presence.

she had a handsome walking stick with which we cousins used to playJ.

I still remember how cute her wrinkled soft cheeks looked when she smiled!

Ludo and snake and ladder were her favourite games which she loved to play in the evenings and she was an expert in themJ

She was not very strict but she had a special aura that arrested respect form everyone. She was a wonderful teacher, mother and granny

I had only lived about five years with her in my childhood.but those were five precious years of my life.

I used to listened to her childhood stories and experiences, the hardships she faced as a child, with great wonder. At her time,people never knew the value of education,but still my grandma became the fist one to get educated and become a teacher in her family. she was a woman of substance and nothing less than real hard work did earn her the good name In the society.

Even today people around the place in my hometown recogonize we cousins as her grand children. Its with great amazement that I still wonder how she managed to bring her six children up, even when she was an employed mother, that too at that time…..

Sometimes god can be cruel and that was why we couldn’t rescue my granny from the jaws of cancer. It was too late, but she fought…

It was a painful sight to see her during her last days.

i still remember the day when she struggled to open her eyes as a reply to our calls. Through her cheeks, which had then lost all its cuteness, I saw tears flowing down

May be the pain was horrendous for her, or may be she knew that, soon she wouldn’t be able to open her eyes again and see us again…

Ah how I wished I were big, I weren’t a kid at that time! To spend all my time with her…taking care of her, to do all I could to rescue her,to make her the sweet dear granny again…

Today she is in the safe hands of god but the truth is she is safe in my heart. It has been five years since her demise and even today I do feel her presence always… I find her in the people who know to love, I find her in the ones who correct me ….she lives within me , She is the good in me….
We miss you dear granny….

Why i love Sirius Black...

You remember these impressive lines don’t you??? Well I know it’s a rather bad question, because how can any hp fan ever forget these lines?J

When I first read these lines, it was then I fell in love with THE ONE AND ONLY Sirius black.

‘Sirius Black’, a deceptive name I would say, because he ain’t actually serious or dark like the feeling the name will evoke, at first.

Sirius! oh words about him are endless-the man to successfully escape from the prison of Azkaban, a brave determined, Rebellious wizard who never gave into his family’s wishes, who never became a Death Eater, who never gave up what he believed in, who managed to stay himself in spite of the hard ships and injustice he faced and above all the most loyal, gem of a friend…

““Its been 14 years and still not a day goes by , that I don’t miss your dad” When Sirius says these words to harry, am sure a poignant smile must have flashed on at least some of your faces

The relationship between harry and Sirius is something very beautiful, which is another beautiful reason why I like Sirius. He is a perfect god father who seems to exactly know what harry feels and how to console him. Unlike the other concerned elders of Harry (exactly, like the elders around usJ),who tend to (deliberately) forget the factor ”teenage” when it comes to matters concerning him, Sirius seem to know that Harry’s feelings, the despair, the curiosity, the anger are all completely justifiable, as he does not forget the fact that once he too had been a teenager. Exactly the reason why he suggests harry to indulge in adventures, like his father who loved nothing but escapades in his teens.

Sirius had always wanted to protect those whom he loved. Even when Sirius was a wanted man, even with dementors around Hogwarts, when Harry was in trouble, he was desperate to help Harry. He was willing to risk,not his life exactly, something more than that, because a dementor’s kiss is worse than death.

I couldn’t stop crying like a small baby and my contempt for bellatrix lestrange was at its peak when I found that Sirius was killed.(The most touching part is, when harry finds the Christmas gift ,which sirius had given him,after his death and finds this note “use it if you need me alright?”And he calls his dead god father’s name again and looking into the mirror, hoping he would turn up, oh but all in vain!:(

His want to protect his loved ones,is what had killed him.He met a his death while fighting to protect Harry. A brave death indeed and a fitting, right end for him but still…. he should have lived……SIRIUS BLACKL

So that’s why I seriously love Sirius black:)

Do we need to convince others?

Sometimes when you have valid reasons for why a particular decision or say idea of yours is right, surprisingly others reasons for why your idea or actions are wrong ,too will seem logical. of course, if you listen to others with a “whatever-this –fool-says-is –absolutely-insane ” kind of attitude or with a “I know better than you” grin, then you will never realize this.

At this time, you will find that your reasons for why you are right and others reasons for why you are wrong will nullify each others effect!

Have you ever felt like that? Yes, exactly like the neutralization reaction between an acid and a base or

Like how the work done will be zero when forces are equal and oppositeJ

And in most of the cases when your inability to convince others ,frustrate you, that helplessness may come out as tears, anger and soon there may begin a petty squabble and you may lose control and your opposer may end up with a punch on his face or you may lose a couple of your teeth,etc etc J

But listen,

If you truly believe that what you did is right, and if you can justify your actions, not necessarily with words, you need not do that mental gymnastics to find out reasons to justify your actions.

Don’t you worry mate,don’t let their contemptuousness affect you,
because there does not arise a necessity to convince others, as long as you are sure that with your decisions, you did not cause any harm to anybody in any sense J

Sometimes the thought of never waking up from my sleep, the next morning is simply amusing.

Great Expectations...

He couldn’t believe his eyes….didn’t he expect this from them ever….the realization was like a sudden thunderclap to him.

He didn’t know how to react, worst of all. The room was spinning in front of him. He was shaking with anger, but he wanted to cry and scream.

He wondered how his friends could do this to him. He was losing his mind.

“I HATE THIS CRUEL WORLD!!!” he shouted at the top of his voice. Tears trickled down his ruby cheeks.

As he flung his new apple ipad across the bed, and sank his face into the damp pillow, he was cursing his friends, his great expectations, Mark Zuckerberg and Face book ……… still wondering why nobody had commented on his new profile photo or ‘liked’ It……….

Emptiness...

Survival of the fittest...

It was recently that I came to know about one of my classmate’s motto of life. She said she followed “the survival of the fittest” rule. I was surprised and if at all I had some good impression left, of her, it drained off automatically at that very instant leaving a blank space.

Little did I know that she befriended people only for her advantages. She pushes around with everyone, even with teachers and literally pushes whoever comes her way , to become the first , be it in the queue for presenting the slide in the bio lab, or for getting apparatus in chemistry lab.

She would be the first to submit any assignments and she often do a Hermione in class…

Seriously her attitude is horrible. I guess anybody in my class would agree with me except for some practical thinkers. (Well don’t bother them. Hmmm ..who knows ,these so called practical thinkers may even support terrorism. The ever increasing human population being the hot problem of today’s world that causes geologic and economic instability and decelerates the development of any country ,terrorism is a great “boon” and “solution” to decrease the population rate right?!?:o )

Well coming back to the topic, She seems quite proud to admit that she is over smart! And once said that she is ready to do anything for her education, that being her top priority…..

Now, the whole purpose of education has gone waste!

She justifies all her acts by saying that it was the problem of today’s world where one cant survive, unless one can compete and win and be perfect of all. And hence only the fittest would survive. Now that leaves a lot for me to wonder. i should say this is insane. What are we up to?

Let me tell you my view on competition .competition only reflects one’s uncertainness of his abilities and confidence and it further reflects his fear .why because if one really believes in himself, he will definitelywork at his own pace.success to him is always visible,unlike for others who runs in search of it....

when one is ready to polish his potential to the core he wont be afraid of anything and most importantly he would compete only with himself.

Today People are so very self absorbed and they are like “oh god, let them all go down in life” hey seriously why cant it be like “oh god help me to come up in life” at least?

Again, “survival of the fittest” is the golden words what is followed in politics too, world wide. No wonder the politics is getting dirtier by day…

Further this phrase was given by the sociologist Herbert Spencer to allude the theory of natural selection given by Charles Darwin and Alfred Wallace, something what happens among the lower organisms, where the creatures who can adapt and are reproductively fit would survive and others will be eventually eliminated.

Now are these practical thinkers out there still trying to say that, this is what is required in this era? that homo sapiens should go back and behave like lower animals?

Who knows they might even nod a yes! wowJthen that’s going to be an interesting irony…..seriously what has happened to the intellect that we are known for?

Onam ,then was a beautiful festival that we, especially cousins used to immensely enjoy, holidays after the exams, the reunion, celebrations, the quest for flowers around the houses and neighbourhoods ,big colourful flower carpet laid in the porticos, the swing, songs, and of course the traditional food!!!wow sweet memories….. happiness and nothing elseJ

Onam now has shrunken ..reunion-has become impossible, few phone calls wishing “happy onam”,no great celebrations, a small flower carpet with the flowers bought from the market and instant food:(…

Well, I guess atleast the spirit is immortalJ J

The sudden disbelief, the sudden devastation of the castle in the air and the sudden shame of wasting a perfect opportunity did or could only come out as anger……

“THOU SHALL COME TO ME! VERY VERY SOON!” shouted the,shrieking voice,spilling anger…

the girl woke up. what did she just see?hear?feel? was it a dream?

Her wide eyes moved nervously..she got up and walked towards the mirror.

It reflected her.

Her reflection was smiling at her with strange serenity.

she could feel a change in every cell of her body. Just a few hours ago, she was that angry loon, lost in the tunnel, in the darkness, madly happy, eager to kill and die, numb with greed.. but now , now it seemed like she was floating in the sky. weightlessness, peace. she was calm.

As she peered deeper and deeper into the eyes of the smiling girl in the mirror, She could see a big black butterfly struggling, wincing in pain….

surely it was dying….with its large fluttering wings on crimson fire…

Here is the historic speech given by Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru as India’s first prime minister, in Delhi at mid night on August 14 .1947.His was the first voice of independent India.

“At the stroke of midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, then an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. It is fitting that at this solemn moment we take the pledge of dedication to India and her people and to the still larger cause of humanity.

At the dawn of history India started on her unending quest, and trackless centuries are filled with her striving and the grandeur of her successes and her failures. Through good and ill fortune alike she has never lost sight of that quest or forgotten the ideals which gave her strength. We end today a period of ill fortune and India discovers herself again.

The achievement we celebrate today is but a step, an opening of opportunity, to the greater triumphs and achievements that await us. Are we brave enough and wise enough to grasp this opportunity and accept the challenge of the future?

Freedom and power bring responsibility. That responsibility rests upon this assembly, a sovereign body representing the sovereign people of India. Before the birth of freedom we have endured all the pains of labour and our hearts are heavy with the memory of this sorrow. Some of those pains continue even now.

Nevertheless, the past is over and it is the future that beckons to us now.

That future is not one of ease or resting but of incessant striving so that we might fulfill the pledges we have so often taken and the one we shall take today. The service of India means the service of the millions who suffer. It means the ending of poverty and ignorance and disease and inequality of opportunity. The ambition of the greatest man of our generation has been to wipe every tear from every eye. That may be beyond us but so long as there are tears and suffering, so long our work will not be over.

And so we have to labor and to work, and work hard, to give reality to our dreams. Those dreams are for India, but they are also for the world, for all the nations and peoples are too closely knit together today for any one of them to imagines that it can live apart. Peace has been said to be indivisible, so is freedom, so is prosperity now, and so also is disaster in this one world that can no longer be split into isolated fragments.

To the people of India whose representatives we are, we make appeal to join us with faith and confidence in this great adventure. This is no time for petty and destructive criticism, no time for ill-will or blaming others. We have to build the noble mansion of free India where all her children may dwell."

When it rains....

Hello everyone! Now, before I start I want you all to imagine this…

It’s a Friday evening. you are alone at your house. Its raining heavily outside, the sky is all dark with the big black clouds. you are lying on your divan which is near to the window, facing the sky…the curtains are all flying so is your hair. In that dark evening, you lie there cuddling your pillow. You are reading a book listening to your favourite melody number in your iPod, occasionally sipping the hot cappuccino.

There is a cool breeze that chills both your body and mind, lightning and thunder, smileys and names on the frosted window glass, the inexpressible joy that enwraps your heart….. Altogether a romantic, melancholic, nostalgic, happy feeling runs through you

WOW!!! This- is- called- HEAVEN!!!

I love rain .well who doesn’t???

When it rains, of course it’s my childhood days, that come running to my mind….As I have told you in my previous posts, we lived in a traditional mansion there in Kerala.

when it rained it used to be such a pleasure to listen to the raindrops rapping the roofs. there always was a rhythmic pattern for that .that was because the roofing of such houses are actually done with red brick tiles… And I still remember how me and my sis used to play in the rain ,making paper boats and screaming along with the thunder.

And we have a big temple tank just in front of our house in my hometown and the sight of the tank getting filled with the rain water is another beautiful sight I would die for to see. The transparency of the water will just astonish anyone..you can see a picture of the tank here:_

The house you see on the opposite bank is my cousin's and ours was just behind it:)

The water level usually reaches a dangerous point during the monsoon. I still remember the day when I was young and went for a swim in one of the rainy days with my sis and cousins nearly drowned! It was really scary! But truly awesom

There it rained continuously without a break. If it stopped in between, we used to run towards the small trees in front of our house. with our little hands half hugging the little trees, we used to shake them with all our strength and what a bliss it was to feel the tiny raindrops on our face! We used to walk bare footed on the wet grass and the damp soil and have never felt it yucky because it just cannot be!:)

starting from the black clouds, petrichor,rainbows, everything about rain was so special... oh how I miss them all now……L…here it doesn’t even rain properly! SeriouslyL

Whether little Johnny wanted to play or not, the monsoon hits Kerala, on time, every time….but here it simply wont rain. guess the clouds here are a lot more happier, otherwise why aren’t they crying?;(:P

Where did july go?

“July, July where are you?

When did you come and when did you go?”

Oh my god! It’s already august third! I simply can’t believe it! where did July go? I checked the calendar and yes July was thereJbut it seems to me like a dream,like a mystery…

Wait! OH! 7 months have already passed since the birth of 2011!

Wow! That’s absolutely wonderful if you ask me. Bet many like me love it when time flies.

The first and foremost reason why I love it, is that I simply want to grow up because I am tired of this school life and truly fed up with these elders.

Elders seriously have many misconceptions about teenagers. Well, I know everyone one has this idea that- teenage means immaturity and a teenager is neither a kid nor an adult ,but believe me, times have changed. A teenager is only a teenager physically now, not mentally anymore. (There can be exceptions however;) no no no. its NOT the other way round.)

You know,here, one of the problems these elders have is that…. okay some of the elders have this problem. When we try to convey logic, when some problem arises, they chew us out by telling “enough! now stop retrorting!you don’t have any respect towards the elders!”

how ridiculous! How can they be always right? They forget that they are living in a totally different era. see even John Keats said that “child is the father of a man” J

I am Absolutely thirsty for liberty ! I wanna lance the various, stupid, restrictions with my fangs and drink the freedom. I wanna lead a life in my style, according to my principles and give life to my dreams.

So for that the time must fly and am Happy that my prayer is being answered!

So time is no more flying on wings but traveling in a supersonic jet! Yippee!

P.S: By the way, when did July come and go?? Does any one know?

So The other day I was walking on the road, and saw one of my neighbours coming opposite to me. As she neared, naturally I smiled at her but she only stared back. I abruptly stopped smiling, looked at her, and made sure that she was my very same neighbour and I was not mistaken. And continued to smile.

But she simply walked way. I was surprised ‘as usual”. “As usual “ because this is not an exceptional incident, there had been a lot of such similar incident and every time I become surprised.

(now if you ask me “oh girl! why should you bother to smile?” I would say “why aren’t they bothering to smile?”)

What will it cost you if you just smile? As far as I know we will not lose anything but on the other hand ,will only be benefited. But you know what? Smiling is becoming a thing of the past.

Today As such, we are already ungenerous and adding to that, we are becoming parsimonious even to smile!

There are this kind of people around us, who would either give you a disgusting look as if you are a freshly released criminal, or stare at you so intensely as if you are an alien from another planet,when you do nothing but just SMILE at them! (no am not exaggerating)

Some times even some of my classmates fall in a dilemma whether to smile or not to and finally they will end up giving something like a “smile” and sometimes they don’t.

At times they even give a “blink-and-you-will-miss it” kinda smile! Oh ya,its a fast world..:)

What is worst is that even small kids hesitate to smile-a proof that they are losing their innocence

I am just wondering.How will it be in future ,when you smile at a tot and it is not able to recognize a smile. it would perhaps ask its mom, ”mommy,look that girl is doing a strange facial gesture…..what’s that???”

Or just think how will it be, few decades from now, when a small kid walks into a studio out of curiosity , and when the photographer shouts “smile please”.

The kid would say “what please??? Sorry I am afraid I don’t have it with me……..”,or probably they will take their ipad and google out “what is smile?”and google in turn would give the answer “ SMILE- a beautiful facial expression, that homo sapiens could do till 2030s by fexing the mucles at the end of our mouth,but lost it during the course of evolution…..”

Smile is an internationally known facial expression.

Everyone, whatever their caste,religion,country or colour may be, identifies it.

smile means positive energy,something that is beautiful and make us more beautiful, a powerful tool that can rekindle our hopes.smile is powerful than words.(if someone yells angrily at you,just smile at him\her and nothing irritates them moreJ)

so friends, if somebody smiles at you, don’t forget to smile back (of course you know the “somebody” am talking about:))

Fettered Childhoods...

A couple of days back it rained heavily here. it was indeed a bliss because It rained after a long time. I rushed to the balcony to feel the cool air.

By that time, the drizzle had already become intense. I saw raindrops smiling; perhaps they were reflecting my happiness.

It was then when my eyes caught the sight of the cute little kid, my neighbour, with his face raised towards the sky. I waved at him repeatedly but he did not seem to notice it. He too was enjoying the rain, but sadly like a prisoner, from behind the grills of his house.

I saw the astonishment glittering in his eyes, the tot hardly three, put his little hands out to feel the rain and tried to open the grilles to get out. His smile had the glory of the sun at dawn.

But the next moment his grandpa appeared on the scene. He pulled him away and took him inside, I heard him yell at the little boy for trying to open the grills.

That was not the first time the grandpa did that. I had seen him chew the little boy out many times, once when he tried to pluck a flower from the pot, and the other day for feeding some biscuits to the stray dogs. I felt pity for the boy.

I recalled my childhood days, and how I used to play in the rain.

i was indeed lucky to have born in a beautiful village, to have grown up in the lap of nature.

It was then I thought about the pathetic childhoods in cities. Children are confined to their small houses or rather match boxes-like buildings.

They do not have enough space or space at all to play nor do they have an opportunity to learn from nature. Literally, a fettered childhood.

For these kids, butterflies are something that they have seen only in photos, tall buildings and skyscrapers are trees, as they grow and spread like an epidemic here. Their ears hardly know the sounds of chirpings of birds and pitter -patter of rain but are more adjusted to the drilling and other noises of a city.

In a way, city life curbs the bubbling enthusiasm of these tiny tots to find out how things work around them.

Young mind is a wonderland where thousands of questions take birth every moment. Their Curiosity must be quenched .But sadly In today’s whizzing world where do people have time to answer all those questions? Thus, the interest gradually withers.

Yet it’s ironic that one of the reasons why people move to cities is for better educational facilities. The thing is that education is not something that happens within the four walls of a room.

When these children grow up, losing their true childhood, like machines among machines, and tomorrow boast about how many friends they have in FB and about defeating the enemies in their videos games and about how they love their Ipads, and miss their Ipods, I just tremble at the thought of the future generations! I guess they wont have a childhood at all, even to lose!

I still remember the time when, as a kid like a fanatic I watched your videos endlessly. All pretty young things! they drived me wild..

You are the thriller!The invincible,daring and dangerous.
You made everything you touched, into gold.The king of pop , Who else can be the one?

you told us that the man in the mirror should change first, to heal the world. you tried to change the bad, human nature with your unique songs.what more can you give?

Advices,advices everywhere,unable to breathe!

So What’s this thing that you get free of cost in abundance and more than that everyone is very keen and generous to offer and still we mostly don’t bother to accept???

BRAVO! Yes, it is advices! And particularly students ‘prey fall’ for the glib and clichéd advices about their future .

Because here in India 10^th and 12^th grades, 12th especially is considered to be the turning point in a student’s life. (I wonder why everyone is forced to turn at the same point. Won’t turning points be different for different people?)

“Somebody’s opinion about what another person should do”-this is how an Encarta dictionary defines the word “advice”

Isn’t that sounding stupid?! So everyone can advice anyone about anything!

Suppose a person A advises a girl X about which career she should choose and Some B advises the same girl X about the same topic, but the advices are totally different from what A has said, and both are equally good, what should this girl do???

Wouldn’t she feel lost unless she is robustly determined to follow her heart and not the advices?

So, what I understand is, these advisers are actually trying to prove and make us follow whatever they feel is right in their opinion, which they gathered from their experiences that they learnt from their life.

So let me ask you a question. Do you think that lessons one has gathered from his or her experiences would be exactly applicable to everyone?

That can’t be! It’s high time that people should stop advising glibly.

Worst of all, There is yet another group who advises every one to be practical. Such people want us to leave our dreams because for them, dreaming and achieving them are not practical in this era unless our dream is about becoming a doctor or engineer in our life!

Now are these the only professions in this whole universe?

Oh, ya! just heed their words and at the end of the day, we will definitely find ourselves walking along with a crowd where everyone shares the same identity…cheers to the elders! Look at the result of being practical!

Of course it is in our hands to take or simply ignore those advices but sadly most of the time we get brain washed or influenced by our elders if we an unstable and moreover advices are highly deceptive.

Well to end this up ,given below is my definition for advice.

“A few words from a perfect person, that are strong and true, with the intensity of fire that can change our life in the correct direction ”

and not to forget that we should get them exactly when we are in desperate need of it. Too fictitious!

so truly its advices advices everywhere and we are unable to breathe….. I have only one request to the elders-- please let us follow our heart and whatever is your reason for why we should not follow our dreams, we give self contentment the top priority and once we achieve it, no doubt this world will be at our feet!

The rebirth

Up above on the cliff she stood all alone in the dark. It was a silent evening. As silent as a churchyard. A wind was howling and a lonely bird was circling in the sky. The only sound heard was that of the waves.

She slowly moved towards the tip of the cliff and looked down at the raging sea. It was beckoning her.

“Just a few moments more and I shall close my eyes for ever in peace.” She thought.

She closed her eyes and thought about her life. The ugliest one. The most tragic one and the most disastrous…a battle in which she had only tasted defeat, she and her life were the synonyms of failure.

Suddenly she burst out

“YOU THERE IN THE HEAVEN! GOD! YOU ARE THE REASON!

I FAILED IN MY LIFE BECAUSE OF YOU,I AM A QUITTER ,A LOSER NOW!.YOU DITCHED ME! U GAVE ME NOTHING IN LIFE!!” she shouted at the top of her lungs looking up at the sky.. A tear tickled down her cheeks,.

“SO HERE I WILL END MY LIFE.THE WAY I LIKE.I SHALL NEVER LET YOU TAKE MINE.I WANNA BE A WINNER ATLEAST IN DEATH!”

And With a deep breath, she threw herself into the sea…

She felt the chill air against her body as she floated in the air. She wasn’t scared but it was a bliss.She went deep down the sea while the water splashed very high.

Slowly, down and down she went. She felt the water fast entering her ears and nose but she showed no sign of struggle. She was enjoying the serenity she had never got in her life…

”I am dying” she thought

“He gave me nothing in life .he forgot me. He does not exist. I am the mistake of god”she thought repeatedly

But something was bothering her.It was not death at all for she was loving it now better than her life.

What was it then? it was a spark in her soul.

she felt like somebody was talking to her, from within the soul.

she heard the deep voice close to her ears speaking

”Dear girl, dont be a fool. .Hasn’t god given you anything?

THINK! HASNT HE GIVEN YOU A LIFE?...

A life to live and show the world who you really are? but what did you do?

Like a coward you tried to hide yourself from life.

why? because of your sufferings?

Ah dear girl! WHAT YOU LACKED WAS A DREAM .A DREAM TO FOLLOW. Had you had one ,all the pains would have dissolved in your dream.you never knew that.God cant make mistakes. He can’t ditch anyone…”

And the voice stopped and she opened her eyes very wide. The salt water blistered her eyes, but a desire shone brightly in them. Something she never had before.

But By then death had entangled her .Her lungs were burning. she couldn’t breath. Her heart hardly was beating.

But with all her left strength,she dived upwards.water choked her.she gasped for breath.Like a fish out of water she struggled in water.

“GOD!” for the first time she called, with all her heart. “what a coward am i…..”

By then all she wanted was to live her life…But she was dying. Minutes passed by and she was drowning.

But suddenly her eyes caught a sight. she was sure that it was not a mirage..

out of nowhere came an odd ship…it quickly neared her.

what an ecstatic sight it was. She felt confidence pouring into her heart.

As the ship neared an old man offered his hand to her and said

“It’s the rebirth. Believe in yourselves”.

His smile was strange.bewildered,she eagerly holded his hands and climbed onto the deck.she was pale and weak.she felt like she was slipping away. Into another world.

”is this my end??NO,I don’t want to die” she whispered unclearly.

Through her narrow eyes, she saw the old man coming towards her. His eyes were hypnotic .unusually divine….

She closed her eyes slowly

Birds chirped enthusiastically. And the dawn was breaking. the golden rays were gradually spreading. she woke up and sat down. She was on the shore.

To her left she saw the cliff from which she had jumped into the sea last night.

”I am alive! ” she shouted in high spirits.

She tried to recall what had happened to her last night. Everything seemed like a dream.

“and the ship??” she suddenly stood up and looked around. The ship was gone. Nor were there any traces of that old man.

she was alone there. She felt an incredible change. To her body and mind. Her heart was full of determination. To live her life,to win the battle. It was the rebirth. No pain, no sorrows, and no torments could cripple her again. Her mind overflowed with positive energy.

But something else was haunting her.the face of that old man

” but Who was he?”,she asked to herself.A thousand questions rose in her mind.

‘that voice and that old man..they have something in common….The voice, the ship, the man,those eyes,the divinity,the smile….. What can they all mean…????” she thought

She didnt notice that she was crying. And little did she knew that those tears came out at the realization of a big truth.

the truth.

“it means”,she sobbeb and looked up at the sky, “that it was you???,dear god!….”

She turned around and started to walk.. …

Somewhere far the church bell rang and the waves splashed against the rock like never before….

Red Rose...

Promises were broken and they parted

Leaving the red rose behind…

She lay there all alone.

Slept silently in the cold.

The Dewdrops were her tears in disguise…

A breeze gently kissed her cheeks,

But it couldn’t carry her fragrance afar,

Because she was withering.

Like those separated. Empty, loveless, hearts,

her petals scattered…

Unnoticed, crushed and young,she died

And faded away

Her untold story died along….

The once, beautiful red rose

Now sleeps deep down the earth

Alas! How many like her……….

oooh that scary night!

Well this happened when I visited Kerala this time. I still cant forget that creepy night when I struggled alone to sleep!

To tell you about this incident, first I need to describe an old lady because this whole incident revolves around her.

In my childhood days, I lived with my granny in Kerala.

I still remember an old lady who used to visit my granny often, mostly during evenings to have a chat with her. she was our neighbour. she lived alone, quiet near to us.

A bold lady all clad in white she was. A widow. Actually, in most of the rural parts of India, widows usually wear just plain white clothes and lead a simple life. She was a medium sized fair woman of my gran’s age, with dark grey hair. She walked in a majestic way.

About 8 years back she committed suicide, hanged herself from the ceiling of her house. The reason what everybody thinks is ‘the avoidance and ill-treatment she faced from her children.’

Nobody expected this from her even in the wildest dreams. The news was so shocking.

After her death, that house did not go unoccupied as I expected. Her very son and family lives in there now! And no ghost stories came up as I expected ! you know because of her unnatural death….

(from then onwards I understood we must expect the unexpectedJ)

So years went by and yes, this whole thing died a natural death and people forgot all about this.

(And it was a few years after that we moved to Chennai and now my aunt and her family lives there in the house where we lived.)

This time when I visited my aunty there, do not know why but I just could not stop thinking about that poor lady.

Every time I sat idle, that woman’s face filled my mind. I just kept on thinking about how she must have got he courage to commit suicide, her last moments, Wondered whether she would have cursed her children, whether her spirit be floating around her house and all (well ,mysteries, parapsychology interests me)

So this particular night I just couldn’t sleep. And oh my god. I just cant forget that night. I started imagining all sorts of weird things. I thought I saw a white lady hanging upside down from the ceiling. And her face was of that lady’s!

I shut my eyes so hard and the next moment I heard a kind of tap on the door.

Then the sound faded away.

I could not breathe but felt a sudden breeze and heard rustling of the dry leaves. It sounded like somebody was crushing them

Even the ticking of the clock sounded scary. And as the minutes passed by I just couldn’t understand whether I was imagining or whether It was all happening!

I felt like somebody was moving around the house and thought i saw a pale face that vanished swiftly, every time I looked out of the window!

But the funniest part was that I knew I was scared but my pride did not allow me to wake my cousin up J .(well. bet nothing could have waken her up.)

I tried to put on a brave front and waited for the ghost to come to me. If she came at all ,I decided to shake her hands and say “hey gran whats up?.oh you look so pale. Nutrition deficiency?”:D

So I waited and waited filling my heart with bravery, but guess I fell asleep soon (or unconscious???:))

The next morning I woke up and could not stop laughing, thinking about how stupid I had been the last night!

I didn’t say this to anyone.(ya u guessed the reason rightJ).seriously embarrassing….

Well but the night was real scary. Did I actually see her or did I simply imagine it, I still dont know!

just cant forget that night. But I know her soul is resting in peace…yes her soul is….. yes yes

Well, wouldn’t her soul be??? :P

And Finally I am back! After having a good time there in my hometown .

yes! Had a blast with my cousins….:)

But I seriously missed blogging and reading all the beautiful posts of my friends…L

Well I have so many things to write about the beautiful days I spent in kerala here but the problem is I don’t know how to start and make it “bore –free”;D

And more than that, some things can never be expressed but only felt.

But there are a few things that I want to pen down here that too, in points. Some things that I learnt from my visit to my home town, this time.

1. There are some hearts in this world where in the rivers of pure love have not at all dried up.

2. Even if a person you hate , becomes a reason to hate a place where he/she lives, there will be a thousand other reasons to love and like that same place.

3.The feeling you get after you speak aloud whatever you feel is right and fair is just incredible!

4.Unbelievable Changes (both good and bad) can happen to anyone at anytime that too anywhere!

Well, that’s it. By the way, I am so glad to see some really good comments and followers which have made my day!

I wanted to post something about my state Kerala, otherwise fondly called as- God’s own country.situated on the lush and tropical Malabar Coast of india,kerala enjoys unique geographical features that have made it one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in Asia.

Since I’m Falling short of words to describe my beautiful place,why don’t you take a look at some beautiful pictures……

1.The word “kerala” means, land of coconuts.

10.Edakkal Caves are two natural caves located 1,200 metres above sea level in the Wayanad Distric of Kerala. Inside the caves are pictorial writings believed to be dating to at least 5000 BC, from the neolithic man indicating the presence of prehistoric civilization or settlement in this region.

night sky

Watching night sky is one of my hobbies. Bet you all love it too.

I don’t know what feeling fills my heart when I watch the night sky but I think it’s a mixture of romantic, melancholic and blissful feeling.

I like walking alone on the terrace of my home, watching the sky during the twilight.

At that time, I always try to find out the brightest of all the stars because I know that it’s my granny.

Then I will smile at her and believe me she will smile back…she was so sweet, my unique granny….

You know, When I was young I used to think that, everyday a star falls down from the sky. And hence I used to stay alert to catch one ;D

Sometimes I would simply wait for a shooting star or watch the moon among the floating clouds. Isnt she pretty and majestic like a queen.?

But what do we learn in the school? That moon is the only natural satellite of the earth, we belong to milky way galaxy, stars don’t twinkle but its just atmospheric refraction bla bla bla.

Now who cares about all that when the beauty of the night sky leaves us speechless……

No science can tell you about the stars better than our “twinkle twinkle little star” rhyme that we learnt in our kindergarten.

But It’s true that as we grow up we become rational, And hence there won’t be or there can’t be any place for those silly, kiddish thoughts that we once strongly believed in!

They just become something we can simply laugh at heartily, a part of childhood memories.

Well, let me conclude this post with a short poem. (poem? Don’t think so) J

I have seen you moving so many times but today I observed you.

The queue you maintained from the source to destination left me startled.

The other day when I went to a shop, what I saw was not a line but a crowd.

I wish the people here had your discipline.

And my gosh! Your head is so tiny and yet you don’t forget the way to your house wherever you go!

I still remember the day when I was new to this city and lost my way to homeJ

You and your friends easily lift the big bread crumbs on the floors, that are double your size!

Hats off to your hard work,and your team spirit is the eighth wonder!

Its something that most of us lack…

How beautifully do you prove that- united we stand and divide we fall.

And science has proved that you are good in calculations too! Oh god how I struggle to do some of my maths sumsJ

All together you are just INCREDIBLE!.yet people use ant pesticides to get rid of you. Sometimes I feel sad imagining how painfully you die. suffocating Or otherwise you silently get crushed under our feet.:(

Man thinks that he is the master of this world. I am just wondering in what way is he superior When he does not even know that even a small insect like you is the creation of god and can teach him some great lessons of life…

BAN ENDOSULFAN!

SAY NO TO THIS BRUTAL KILLER!”

Endosulfan is basically an insecticide used to destroy pests and is primarily used by farmers to destroy pests which are harmful to their crops. The issue is that

India

is the main producer & exporter of this insecticide, but also is a member of the Stockholm Convention, which was established to protect the health of humans & the environment. So, as per this Convention, member countries should not use, produce, export, etc anything which is harmful to human health and the environment. Now the Stockholm Convention has tagged endosulfan as harmful and included it in their list of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). Research studies allegedly state that endosulfan causes birth defects,cancer and is harmful to the male,female reproductive system .

The recent study done in a village in Kasargod, Kerala revealed some shocking harmful effects of the endosulfan.

Other than India, apparently only China and

Argentina

are opposing the ban whereas most member countries of the Stockholm Convention are supporting the ban.

WHEN WILL THE AUTHORITIES OPEN THEIR EYES?

I think, “Who am I?” Is a tough question.

The question with no answer or more clearly a question with so many answers but no definite answer!

And this is again because no one completely knows oneself.(well,atleast me)

Sometimes I really feel that there is a total stranger living inside me.

I have felt a kinda “duo” feeling so many times. like, sometimes i would be able to clearly differentiate between the normal me and the stranger me!
